October in Hull, UK

When the Winds of (life) Change blew my family to Hull, I wondered how my bush loving family would cope with life in an English city.

Looking back now, the transition was quite seemless. One frequent question I am still asked is, “Which country/continent is better?” The only real answer  is that it has to be the country that you currently live in.

African sunsets are glorious, while UK seasons are an acquired taste. Long hot days are gorgeous but 40c isn’t always pleasant. Cold dark winters can be miserable, but seasons do give life a rythmn.

My daughter swooped in to take her Dad for a nature walk today. I went along on the promise of a bottomless pot of tea in a handy cafe.

Some pictures follow of our outing to the nearby Risby Hall. They are mostly of the area itself as the rest is well documented elsewhere & can be explored in the links at the end.

I asked for strongest cup of tea in the world

The more energetic went for a 2.9 mile easy walk of the surrounds

Risby Round

The site also has the remains of a charming folly & offers great coarse fishing lakes.

The best is that this area is close to home, well maintained, free to access & like most similar sites it is safe. Any danger concerns are limited to the usual with country walking – like twisting an ankle.
